Volunteering with SideWalk may be the most rewarding thing you will have ever done. We are successfully helping people escape the streets and find a home. You can be part of this spectacular work.

SideWalk Volunteer Program: the Grassroots

How do you solve a crisis in your community? Grassroots, community engagement! That’s what SideWalk does, and that’s how we’re going to solve the homelessness crisis in Olympia.

Volunteers do more than just help out. Through our monthly inservices and other available trainings, SideWalk volunteers receive an education that helps contribute to Olympia’s grassroots culture of giving back to our community.

Direct Service & Support
Most of the folks that contribute their time and labor don’t come from a social work background. Instead, they’re concerned members of our community, just like you.

SideWalk’s model of service is unique: we’re the only provider of Homeless Housing Services within Thurston County that performs all direct service with a staff of hardworking, dedicated volunteers.

Development & Outreach
We need to get the word out! Development and Outreach volunteers are key in supporting the direct service we do for folks experiencing homelessness. SideWalk relies on volunteers to help with event staffing, volunteer recruitment, grant writing, media development, canvassing, phonebanking, and more.
